Since Wonder Woman is receiving her own event in Injustice 2 in order to promote the heroine’s forthcoming movie, it stands to reason that the fighting game will also host another event later this fall prior to Justice League hitting theaters. Should that be the case, then the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg will all likely receive special gear sets to be unlocked in the title.
Just recently, it was revealed that Injustice 2 managed to maintain its status as the top-selling game in the UK for its second week of availability, which is no doubt thanks in part to the title’s stellar story and the already deep levels of customization provided through the gear and loot system. Taking this into consideration, should NetherRealm Studios continue to support the fighting game through more functions similar to the Wonder Woman event, it’s highly likely that player engagement will remain solid for the foreseeable future.
